Final Images
Final Images
The next step was to add curves to the picture. This tool enlightens certain parts of the picture whilst darkens other parts, however it depends which part of the curves you decide to change.
Next was to richen the picture a little more in color by adding Vibrance and more Saturation to the photo.
I edited all of these images slightly on Photoshop to make them look more effective and to add more colors into the photos so that the photos don't look bland. I added the same procedure to every photos to make them all consistent so that one photo isn't slightly more colorful than the others.
The first step is to go on 'Hue/Saturation' and add more Hue and more Saturation to suit your preference

For the project i had to shoot a specialized location of my choice. Firstly i did a shoot in my snooker club but after having found a local lake, i thought it was a better opportunity to change my shoot and get better quality, more variety photos there instead. By the end of the project i was aiming to have 10 final images that were good quality so that i good edit them on photoshop. I was also hoping to improve my photography skills so that i could use different cameras with confidence and so that i was confident with the different camera settings. I achieved my targets as i now have 10 good quality final images of the lake that variety in different types of skills such as shallow and deep depth of fields. I can also say my photography skills have improved after having more practice outside the classroom and more experience with different and better cameras. I decided to make images in my chosen location because i thought there was much more there to capture than there was in the snooker club. In the club i was limited to what i could shoot whereas at the lake there was more variety. For the shoot i used an aperture of f11, a shutter speed of 1/80 and an ISO of 400. For the post preparation i prepared for the shoot a few days before, i prepared all of my fishing gear ready so that why i got to the lake i could quickly set up. I also checked the weather forecast the week before to pick the best day to go for a shoot. I decided to do this because if i was to go within a days notice, the weather conditions might not be good for the shoot that i wanted so that would be bad preparation. Im happy that i made this choice because it paid off. The weather conditions were as good as they could of been because that was the other day in that week which forecasted sunny spells. I feel that my 10 final images are strong. This is because i have a variety of different styles of images and they are shot at the right time of day with the correct weather conditions. I think if i was to do this shoot again, before i set up all of my gear up on the lake i could walk around the lake and take shots from different areas of the lake so that i could choose which side of the lake would of been the best for my shoot. However because various anglers were already on the lake, this limited me to do this. However next time i could book a day that there were hardly any anglers on the lake which would benefit me and give me the best chance to succeed with my photo shoot. Out of the Mini shoots we did, Which would be the Music studio shoot, Dance studio and the amphitheatre shoot i would say that i enjoyed the amphitheatre shoot the most because i learnt a lot on that shoot. I learnt from a fellow peer who showed me how to use an off camera flash gun for the first time, i also learnt to take shoots from elevated angles.

Amphitheatre Shoot
Amphitheatre Shoot
The amphitheatre shoot was really quit interesting because it was the first time i had used a proper flash. This helped to illuminate the photos and highlighted different details in the photo that wouldn't be picked up without a flash. It taught me to compose my images more. Instead of just shooting photos it opened my mind to fitting in the model with the background around him. By having the flash it made some parts of the photo illumious, while other parts where left dark which gave it a great effect.

Joel Sternfeld
I Think Sternfeld shoots in thiese locations because i would argue that he likes to go beyond the human eye. What i mean by that is that he tends to see potential photographs that not many people tend to see. I think he sees the photos before he's even taken it. Most of his photos are perfectly composed and it always seems like he has the perfect photo. However a few of his photos are more Life like. They show the reality of peoples everyday lives. For example, the picture below shows a man living his daily life with everything he owns in a shopping trolley. The picture could often be seen as a sad picture but the harsh reality is that there is people who live like this who are homeless and haven't got a penny to their name.
This work could influence me to see beyond the perfect world as it is sometimes described as. To photograph things that other people may not pick up. He shoots in locations like the ones in the pictures below because they are in a very often area and the landscape is very bleak with a natural environment effect to it. The locations are not crowded by human buildings or a lot of human activity like a city or a town. Instead the location is more natural without it being completely without human discovery.

He is a street photographer in the tradition of Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Frank, although he now works exclusively in color.
Meyerowitz shoots in busy and crowded areas like the city of London. What i find interesting about his work though is that he tends to photograph people in the daily routines in everyday life e.g. shopping. Although he shoots in crowded places, his photos are well composed. The composition from building to building and the weather conditions with partial cloud make the photo stand out more and be more attractive to a viewer.

Ben Roberts - Occupied London
Ben Roberts travels around occupied spaces like London in search of harsh living environments for people of London. I find his work very interesting because he shoots in small compact spaces like tents or small living environments. What i find interesting about his work is that he doesn't choose to shoot positive things about the environment. Instead he chooses to shoot negative harsh living environments for people with no money behind them. It shows the bad side of London and other cities.

Robert Frank
Robert Frank was born in Zurich in 1924. He began his career in photography in the 1940s before moving to America in 1947. In America his photographs caught the attention of the director of Harper’s Bazaar, Alexey Brodovich. Robert Frank was later hired as a fashion photographer. The job allowed Frank to travel around Europe where he produced two significant projects – one his Paris pictures and the other photographs of England and Wales. These pictures helped Robert Frank to be well recognized by the public as a good quality photographer.
This is one of Roberts most well known picture. You could argue this because it uses the element of the phrase 'in the right place at the right time'. His photos are interesting because they are shot in black and white. Even though this could be shot in the recent, by looking at the clothes of the workers and the coal on their face it portrays the idea that the men are working in the mines or doing peoples dirty work. The photo below is a famous photo and it could be mainly because of the composition of the photo. The way that the man is always straight inline with the buildings and that you have no idea what he's jumped off to get into the position he is in. The location in this picture is effective because the man is in between both isles of buildings which makes me intrigued.

Preston Bus Station Preston is My Paris
Robert's work revolves around photographic practice. The focus of his work is the change of spaces into places, whilst engaging with people who inhabit these areas. The goal is to enable the viewers to discover and construct the relationships between the two. His work has been exhibited and sold internationally. Adam Murray and Robert Parkinson began Preston is my Paris in 2009 as a photography based project with the goal of encouraging the exploration of Preston as a subject for creative practice. Im not a fan of his work because i think his work is average. the reason for this is because its an ordinary place and i don't like the way his photos are set out. Never the less his photos are still interesting because he does well to make ordinary photographic sites and makes them look more interesting. The reason why this location could be seen as effective is because there are hundreds of people everyday coming and going into preston bus station to get transport for there everyday lives.

Simon Roberts
Simon Roberts is a British photographer whose work deals with our relationship to landscape and notions of identity and belonging. His large format photographs are taken with accuracy often from positions above ground level. The high vantage point allows groups of people to the landscape to be observed.
He has exhibited across the world and his photographs are shown in major public places including the George Eastman House. In 2010 he was known as the official Election Artist by the House of Commons. In 2012 he was given access to photograph the London Olympics and most recently was made an 'Honorary Fellow' of the Royal Photographic Society.
I don't mind his work but i wouldn't say he inspires me or his work attracts me to view more pictures. I would say his photos are ordinary. However i would say that i like the fact that he takes the photos elevated because i think this is different to most photographers out there.
I think he photographs in these locations because they are busy, public places that get an abundance amount of tourism. This location could be seen as a typical place to shoot photos as it is filled with plenty of tourists everyday however by having an elevated view it makes an everyday place look better and more attractive. The good thing about these locations is that there is something different going on everyday of the week e.g. People are in different places and the weather is different everyday.
Comparison
Busy
The difference between a busy and a quiet location is partly safety. In a busy place there is an abundance amount of people, therefore you could have your camera stolen. To prevent this you could carry a bag that your camera goes into so that there is less chance of it being stolen. In a busy place you have less time to take pictures because people and transport move which could effect your picture. The lighting has to be different in a busy place because there is lots of building around, which obstruct the light from getting through.
Quiet
In a quiet place there is less or no people which means you have all the time in the world to be able to photograph the things you want. There is more light in quiet and natural environments because there is no buildings to obstruct the light from getting through which effects the shoot. The lighting effects are different, e.g. if you are shooting in a forest or shooting through trees the aperture has to be different to let more light in.
Bus Station
The bus station is a busy place with hundreds of people transporting every day. The aperture on your camera has to be totally different to if you were photographing the beach. Because it is naturally quite a dark place you have to let more light into your camera but at the same time not enough light to destroy the natural effect of the bus station.
Beach
The beach is the opposite to the bus station. Its an open area with hardly any public so there will be a lot of light to take photos so you won't want as much light to be let into the lens, especially on a bright sunny day.
Street photography
Street photography is the photography of shooting in closed areas of human environment which is completely different to landscape photography because in street, you are usually in a busy place with lots of buildings and tourists so your lightning and camera settings have to be different. Street photography is shooting in alleyways and more closed in surroundings than landscape photography is.
Landscape Photography
Landscape photography is the photography of shooting open areas of natural environment e.g. Mountains, Lakes, open scenic areas etc. It is usually a quiet place with no or limited people so your lighting effects and camera effects have to be different t than they would be in street photography.
